My Sister’s Wedding
January 31, 2011
After over a year of being engaged, my sister and her long time boyfriend tied the knot this month. The day went off without a hitch, and it was truly, honestly, the best day of my family’s life. My sister looked stunning. Her dress was ah-mazing. The venue was drop dead gorgeous. Food and drinks delicious. Music, perfect. Dancing, too fun. My maid-of-honor speech came and went without any tears or breakdowns. I’ve been to a lot of weddings. I may be slightly biased, but my sister’s wedding was really, the best wedding ever.

The Bridal Shower
January 10, 2011
My sister’s bridal shower was graciously hosted by my sister’s soon to be mother in law. It was held at the Saltwater Grille in South Portland, ME. A cozy, Maine restaurant located in a marina with views of the Portland skyline. There were about 50 guests, friends and family, with a surprise visit from the groom himself at the end.

Dining Out: With a Vegetarian
January 4, 2011
I think I have found the world’s most vegetarian friendly non-vegan restaurant. Folks, if you’re a vegetarian and you’re in Boston, you must try the Yardhouse in Dedham, MA. The Yardhouse is a “premium casual eatery known for its extensive menu, classic rock music, and world’s largest selection of draft beer.” In case the world’s largest selection of draft beer didn’t sell you, the Yardhouse also offers multiple entrees with gardein™. Gardein is my best friend. It’s a chicken/beef substitute made from soy, wheat, pea proteins, vegetables and ancient grains and it allows awesome restaurants like the Yardhouse to offer awesome vegetarians like myself more for dinner than just your average ‘veggie burger.’ I’m not kidding.
The menu is beyond extensive, as is the beer list, and the atmosphere is always rocking. Okay, well I’ve only been there twice, but each time there has been a line at the door, but I tell ya, the wait was worth it. For a fun, casual and extremely vegetarian friendly dinner out, this restaurant is the place to beat.
Cheers.
